In 1914, at the beginning of the business that would later become a leader in the industry, Toro manufactured engines for tractors utilized by the Bull Tractor Company. During the years of World War One, it maintained its production by making steam engines and supplying them to the war effort. By 1920, Toro was able to extricate itself out of the steam engine industry and go back to working with farming equipment.
